Under the slogan "We Uphold Our Religion, We Revive Our Nation, We Champion Our Sanctities," the Sixth General Assembly Meeting of the International Union of Muslim Scholars was held in Doha, Qatar, continuing from January 6 to 11 of this month. On the third day of the meeting, the election process for the President and members of the Board of Trustees took place, after presenting the list of candidates to the attendees for their introduction via a dedicated screen.
After the process concluded and with the presence of 651 scholars from around the world, the voting process for electing the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars took place on Monday evening. In the sixth session of the conference, Professor Dr. Ali Muhiuddin Qaradaghi secured the position of President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, having obtained 91.51% of the votes.
At the same time, Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi published a special message on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, in which he made several promises to the International Union of Scholars, the attendees, and the Muslim nation in general. This is the text of his message:
"After a free election with clear and transparent voting, I was elected as the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars.
I promise Almighty God and then the Islamic nation that I will be loyal to my religion and will work throughout my life to convey God's message according to wisdom and the jurisprudence of challenges.
I also promise to be a living example of Islamic values in my life and my interactions with others. I pledge to be firm and steadfast in the independence of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and to work for the spread of peace and tolerance in all our societies. I promise to exert all my efforts to confront oppression, corruption, and poverty, and to contribute to building a just, united, and prosperous society. I also promise my Lord God to be faithful to these promises and my duties, and to continuously strive for good and righteousness in my life.
