VAN – As part of his scholarly and outreach visit to the city of Van in North Kurdistan, His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi, Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, held his first official meeting at the renowned Khalidiya Madrasa. He delivered a valuable speech to an assembly of religious scholars, teachers from traditional Islamic schools (hujras), and esteemed students.

The Khalidiya Madrasa, regarded as one of the most significant and historic centers for the preservation of authentic Islamic sciences in the region, extended a warm welcome to His Eminence.

This meeting holds particular importance as it signifies the respect and support of Dr. Qaradaghi, a leading scholar in the Islamic world, for the traditional hujra educational system. This system has played a historic and influential role in preserving the religious and academic identity of the Kurdish people.

In his address, the Secretary-General was expected to focus on the role of scholars in guiding and leading society. He also likely highlighted the great responsibility that rests upon students of the sacred sciences to confront contemporary challenges while upholding the authentic principles of the holy religion.
