A Key Meeting Between the Deputy Prime Minister and the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars
Sulaimaniyah – This evening, Sunday, May 4, 2025, in the city of Sulaimaniyah, the Honorable Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, received the distinguished Islamic scholar, Professor Dr. Ali Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mariwan Ahmed Rashid, President of the University of Human Development, and Engineer Hussein Najmaddin Rasul, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Humanitarian Rabita Organization.
During their extensive discussion, they addressed the political situations in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the broader region. A strong emphasis was placed on the critical importance of unity and a unified political stance among all Kurdish parties, particularly in response to the anticipated changes and developments emerging in the area.
In another part of the meeting, Professor Dr. Ali Qaradaghi paid tribute to the historic and significant role of the late Mam Jalal in the political landscape of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as in the history of the Kurdish liberation movement. Dr. Qaradaghi noted that Mam Jalal was a steadfast supporter of all organizations and political factions, regardless of their ideological or intellectual differences.
In turn, the Honorable Deputy Prime Minister highly praised the prominent role of the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars in serving the Islamic world and the Kurdish people specifically. He expressed his hope that Professor Dr. Qaradaghi would play an even greater role in resolving the challenges in Rojava (Western Kurdistan) and Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) and continue his efforts to promote peace and coexistence.
