Lahore, Pakistan – In response to an official invitation, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), arrived in Lahore, Pakistan, to participate in the General Conference of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and engage in a series of significant meetings and activities.

Meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami Leadership
As part of his visit, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi met with Engineer Hafiz Naeem Rehman, the Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami, at the organization's headquarters in Lahore on Thursday evening, November 20.
During the meeting, the Emir welcomed the IUMS President, emphasizing the urgent need to renew religious discourse and unify the efforts of scholars to reject extremism and promote moderation.
Dr. Al-Qaradaghi noted that the Islamic world is passing through a critical phase, stressing that scholars bear the responsibility of guiding the Ummah toward unity and stability.

Friday Sermon and Mass Gathering
On Friday, November 21, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi delivered the Friday sermon to over 40,000 worshippers at "Iqbal Park" near the historic Minar-e-Pakistan. The event was broadcast live by 11 television channels.
In his sermon, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi addressed the causes of the Islamic world's decline, stating that "the goodness of this Ummah lies in unity and the balance between religion and development." He highlighted the role of Islamic civilization in integrating worship with science and called for restoring the balance between outward religiosity and inner spiritual substance combined with comprehensive development.

General Conference and Key Themes
The primary purpose of the visit is to participate in the Jamaat-e-Islami General Conference, held from November 21 to 23, 2025. The event includes an international forum titled "Islam and the Quest for a Just World Order."
Key topics of the conference include:

  • The decline of ethics and the absence of justice in the modern global system.

  • The widening economic gap and the use of brute force to impose hegemony, particularly in light of the ongoing massacres in Gaza.

  • The lack of participatory political systems in Islamic countries.

Additionally, an international roundtable conference is scheduled for Monday, November 24, featuring elite scholars, thinkers, and decision-makers. The goal is to formulate a comprehensive Islamic vision for a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world order.

It is worth noting that Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, founded by Abul A'la Maududi in 1941, is one of the country's major Islamic movements and maintains close and fruitful cooperation with the International Union of Muslim Scholars.
