Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi Participates in the Opening Ceremony of the Grand Mosque of Algeria

His Eminence Professor Dr. Ali Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, accompanied by Professor Dr. Ali Sallabi, Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, made a visit to Algeria on February 23. This visit was in response to a formal invitation from the Minister of Religious Affairs and the Dean of the Grand Mosque, for the opening ceremony of the mosque, in the presence of His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Representatives of the Union's president later joined the delegation to participate in the activities held on the sidelines of the visit, namely Sheikh Mohammed El Hassan Al-Dido, Sheikh Dr. Issam Al-Bashir, and Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Ghurmz.

It is worth noting that the Algiers Mosque, or the Grand Mosque, or the Grand Mosque of Algeria (as it is popularly known), is a prominent Islamic architectural project in Algeria. The mosque is located in the municipality of Mohammadia in the capital city of Algiers. The project will be the third largest mosque after the mosques of Mecca and Medina.

The opening of this grand mosque in Algeria is a very important occasion because it will lead to greater unity among Muslims.

Likewise, the visit of Professor Dr. Ali Qaradaghi and the members of the delegation to the mosque is an opportunity to strengthen cultural and intellectual cooperation between Algeria and the International Union of Muslim Scholars. Some information about the mosque:

The mosque includes 1200 ablution places, along with a cultural and intellectual center and a library. The area of its prayer hall is 28,000 square meters and can accommodate 36,000 male worshipers and 8,000 female worshipers. The total area can accommodate 120,000 worshipers.
