Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi Delivered a Speech at an International Conference

On Sunday morning, an international conference on (Protection and Sustainability of Gene Banks in Preserving Genetic Resources and Achieving Sustainable Food Security) was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, organized by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Qatar, and lasted for five days.

One of the most prominent speakers was Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, who presented a scientific paper titled (Environment, Protection, and Sustainability of its Resources from an Islamic Perspective).

During his speech, he highlighted the maqasid (purposes of Sharia) and ethical system and their vital role in environmental protection, in addition to finding the connection between maqasid and the environment and the necessary ethical principles for dealing with it.

He also discussed the most prominent features of environmental reform in the Islamic approach and presented the most prominent maqasid principles established in Islamic thought for the continuous protection of environmental resources.

It is worth noting that the conference, in its meetings and workshops, also covered topics of biodiversity conservation and the preservation of genetic, food, and agricultural resources. The workshops were held during the Expo 2023 for Green Cities.
