Dr. Ali Qaradaghi: The world is currently devoid of an effective global organization capable of protecting the vulnerable and establishing peace.

Yesterday, October 15, an international forum titled "Islam is a Religion of Peace and Goodness" was held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, with the presence of 70 religious and international figures and researchers from 22 countries around the world.

At the beginning of the forum, Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi, the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, delivered an influential speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Uzbekistan for its beautiful hosting of the forum and noted the uniqueness of its organization.

He then began with the Islamic greeting, saying: "I greet you with the peace of Islam, which is peace, and this peace is the title of our forum. May the peace, blessings, and mercy of God be upon you."

In his speech, Dr. Ali Qaradaghi deeply discussed the current situation of the Islamic world, especially in Gaza and Lebanon. He emphasized that "Gaza is burning and being destroyed by a racist and Nazi-like war that history has not witnessed before, and Lebanon has been added to it," indicating that the Zionist occupying state has crossed all moral, human, and legal boundaries.

He also said: "The world is currently devoid of an effective global organization capable of protecting the vulnerable and establishing peace," specifically criticizing the continuous military support provided by some Western countries, especially the United States of America, to Israel.

In one of the main points of his speech, Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi emphasized the importance of reforming the current international organization, which has failed to achieve justice and peace.

He said: "The world is currently devoid of an effective global organization capable of protecting the vulnerable and establishing peace. Therefore, efforts to establish a just and effective global organization capable of establishing peace for everyone tomorrow have become a necessity and a fundamental duty of this moment." He also added: "I suggest to all Islamic and African countries, and Eastern countries such as Russia and China, and South American countries, to strive to establish an alternative international organization to the United Nations, which has failed like the failure of the League of Nations established in 1919."

Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi, in his remarks, referred to the reasons for the failure of international organizations such as the League of Nations and the United Nations in establishing peace, saying that they were "not established on the basis of absolute justice and equality, but on the basis of the interests of the victorious powerful states." He also said, "Granting the right of veto to certain countries such as the United States means that 192 states agree on something, but one state has the right and can cancel the agreement."

He indicated that this unjust structure is one of the reasons for the continuous failure to establish global peace.

Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi called for a review of the laws and principles that govern the world, saying that "Western laws and principles are all based on interests and Machiavellianism and cannot withstand the will of powerful states." He also said, "Today we are facing the collapse of the moral, legal, and human organization in the global system."

During his speech on the role of Islam in establishing global peace, Dr. Ali Qaradaghi presented a comprehensive study on the intellectual and practical foundations of Islam for peace, explaining that Islam is based on "peace, equality, mercy," which are values that the entire world needs to embrace to impose peace.

Dr. Ali Qaradaghi also discussed the issue of Islamic unity as a primary condition for achieving stability and strength for the Islamic nation. He called on everyone to work on "unifying the words and stances" among Muslims, because a defeated nation is not capable of achieving the desired good. For this, he quoted the saying of Almighty God: (And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together in affection, so you became by His favor brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.)

In his final remarks, Dr. Ali Qaradaghi referred to the lessons we learn from the Prophet's biography (peace be upon him) when dealing with others. He assured that this blessed biography has presented a practical model that we can benefit from to achieve coexistence and understanding among nations. He also spoke about the successful experience of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi, who was able to achieve freedom and victory by uniting Muslims.

It is worth noting that the forum saw broad participation from scholars, thinkers, and researchers from around the world, including from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Oman, Russia, the United States of America, France, and many other countries. Discussions were held on ways to achieve a just and lasting peace according to Islam, along with presenting solutions to the current challenges of the Islamic world.
