The International Union of Muslim Scholars Strongly Condemns Insulting Islamic Figures and Calls on Governments and Religious Institutions to Prevent Misguidance and Sedition.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars strongly condemns the actions that occur during certain religious occasions specific to some sects, such as associating partners with Allah, cursing, and insulting prominent Muslim figures, the Caliphs, and the Mothers of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with all of them).

It also warns that these actions are misguidance and sedition, paving the way for further discrimination and division within a single nation. It further calls on the governmental authorities and religious institutions of those sects to prevent these acts of polytheism, sedition, chaos, and inappropriate actions.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars has observed – with regret and sorrow – what happens during some of these religious events dedicated to commemorating those esteemed leaders who passed away or were martyred more than a thousand years ago (may Allah be pleased with them). Although condolences and mourning in Islam do not exceed three days, during these events, some forms of polytheism occur that contradict the true foundations of faith, which are based on the monotheism of Allah's divinity and lordship. Also, the principle that "Allah has no partners, and a human, no matter how high their status, even if a prophet, cannot reach the level of creation (creating something from nothing) or knowing the unseen." For indeed, Allah the Almighty said to His chosen beloved ﷺ: "There is nothing for you in the matter (of their guidance) whether He accepts their repentance or punishes them, for indeed, they are wrongdoers." (Ali 'Imran: 128)

Meaning: Indeed, you have no say in the affairs of the servants (rather, everything is in the hands of Allah Himself). Whether He accepts their repentance and remorse, or punishes them, (He is free to do so), for they are wrongdoers.

All prophets also acknowledged the oneness, uniqueness, and partnership-free nature of Allah the Almighty. They also acknowledged that they are humans like us, but Allah the Almighty honored them by sending revelations to them and entrusting them with the task of conveying His message. Allah the Almighty said: "And there is nothing upon the Messenger except to convey." (Al-Ma'idah: 99)

Meaning: There is nothing upon the Messenger except to convey the message of Allah.

He also said: "...And there is nothing upon the Messenger except clear conveyance." (An-Nur: 54)

Meaning: ...And be assured that the duty of the Messenger ﷺ is only a clear and evident conveyance, and nothing else.

If we read the Quran, we can easily see that it focuses on monotheism and clarifying its rights, and very clearly exposes the dangers of associating partners with Allah in all its forms and its consequences.

Therefore, under no circumstances should we mix the status of the Prophet and the messengers of Allah the Almighty and His righteous servants, and loving and honoring them, with associating partners with Allah or attributing divine attributes and knowledge of the unseen to them. This is from the clear and evident matters of this belief for which Allah the Almighty revealed His books and sent His prophets.

It is also very regrettable that during the aforementioned occasions, cursing and insulting the great and esteemed figures of Islam, the Mothers of the Believers, and the Caliphs are observed. This, again from an Islamic perspective, is a sin, and indeed a great sedition that contributes to the division and alienation of Muslims and creates differences among them, just as it is a cause for their disunity and lack of cohesion. This is a problem that helps the enemies of Islam to prevail and seize the wealth of our nation, because their slogan is "Divide them and conquer."

For all these reasons, the International Union of Muslim Scholars strongly condemns associating partners with Allah, chaos, and sedition, and urgently calls on the relevant governments and religious institutions to prevent them and issue decisions and fatwas specifically to stop and prevent them.

Allah the Almighty says: "And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided." (Ali 'Imran: 103)

Meaning: And all of you hold firmly to the religion of Allah and do not become scattered.
