Statement by Prof. Dr. Ali Qaradaghi Regarding the Qatar World Cup

The State of Qatar, Thanks to Almighty God, Has Triumphed:

Congratulations to the people, the Emir, and the government of Qatar for fulfilling their promise by organizing the World Cup in such an outstanding and magnificent manner that has amazed the world.

Truly, Qatar has won by presenting a beautiful model that served our civilization and our culture. It succeeded in changing many of the stereotypes and preconceived judgments that the people of the world held about Arabs and Muslims.

Thanks to Almighty God for this success, and for this great global showcase that was coupled with a commitment to values and morals. This was achieved by avoiding scenes that were offensive to human dignity and by prohibiting any behavior that would lead to the objectification of women—a fact attested to by the women who attended the event.

The Qatari model was a symbol of meticulous organization, exceptional beauty, and captivating elegance. It was an example of creativity in all fields, from its inspiring beginning to its masterful conclusion, all while presenting a model reflective of our identity, civilization, and culture.

Congratulations to Qatar—its Emir, its people, and its government—on this great and beautiful achievement, which deserves all respect, appreciation, and pride. The success of the state of Qatar was a cause for prayer for every Muslim, and indeed, for every conscientious human being.
