The book "Security of Soul and Thought" is a new study and interpretation for dealing with the texts of the Quran, Sunnah, and Sharia in general, aiming for the Sharia and its texts to be approached according to the Fiqh of Maqasid (objectives of Islamic law).

The book begins with an introduction defining its title and then illustrating the objective of Sharia, which is to establish spiritual and intellectual tranquility, by familiarizing the reader with the concept of (Maqasid). Through discussing the eight objectives of Sharia, it proves that these objectives are aimed at protecting the security of the soul and thought.

Subsequently, the author points to the intellectual and spiritual complexities and problems that have afflicted countries worldwide as a result of misinterpretations of religion, such as terrorism and religious extremism, and then presents the Islamic stance on these issues.

In the final sections of his book, Dr. Ali focuses on the source of these extremist and misguided ideas, which he attributes to the Khawarij. He then discusses the correct way to deal with groups holding extreme beliefs.
