The Humanitarian League Organization (HLO), one of Kurdistan's most prominent and effective charitable organizations, was founded in 1988 by Professor Dr. Ali Qaradaghi and a group of compassionate figures. The organization's primary mission is to foster community development and support vulnerable populations through comprehensive, sustainable projects.
Mission and Vision:
As a non-profit entity, HLO acts as a trusted bridge between donors and those in need. Its vision is centered on "sustainable development," aiming to transition individuals and families from dependency to productivity and self-reliance.
Key Sectors of Operation:
Orphan Sponsorship: Provides monthly stipends, along with educational and health support, for fatherless children. This stands as one of the organization's strategic, long-term programs.
Health Sector: Supplies essential medical equipment to hospitals and health clinics, and supports the treatment of low-income patients.
Reconstruction and Housing: Focuses on drilling clean water wells in remote areas, constructing schools and community centers, and building homes for impoverished and homeless families.
Emergency and Humanitarian Aid: Delivers rapid response aid—including food, clothing, and living essentials—to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and those affected by natural and man-made disasters.
Livelihood Projects: Empowers families to achieve financial independence by helping them start small businesses, such as local shops, livestock rearing, or agricultural activities.
Seasonal Projects: Implements timely initiatives during key periods, such as distributing food baskets in Ramadan and Qurbani meat during Eid al-Adha.
