Iqraa Organization for the Sciences of the Holy Quran
Iqraa is a scientific, non-governmental organization that works independently. It officially received its license number (2048) in 2014 from the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Departments of the Iqraa Organization for the Sciences of the Holy Quran
Learning Department: In this department, learners are introduced to recognizing Quranic letters and words, educational lessons, and working on high Quranic values. Students in this department take seasonal exams, and successful students advance to the Memorization or Recitations (Qira'at) Department.
Memorization Department: This department is for students who aim and aspire to memorize the Holy Quran. Students here are engaged in memorizing the Holy Quran, memorizing at least two pages of the Holy Quran weekly, and their memorization is reviewed by the department's teachers.
Recitations (Qira'at) Department: After completing the Learning Department, students voluntarily move to the Recitations Department to study and receive a sanad (chain of narration) in the narration of (Hafs an Asim) and other recitations and narrations. In this department, it is mandatory for the student to recite the khatmah (complete recitation) from Surah Al-Fatiha to the end of Surah An-Nas under one teacher and Shaykh and take four exams during their study period. The student must have memorized two juz' (parts) of the Quran and achieved an 80% score in the Tajweed exam when receiving permission.
Development Department: This department focuses on the education and development of teachers and students and enhancing their abilities and skills. The objectives of this department include working to prepare educational teachers and raise the cultural and practical level of educational teachers and all teachers in branches and centers. It also focuses on the proper education of students.
Tafsir (Exegesis) Department: This department focuses on introducing those with ijazah (permission) in the narration of (Hafs an Asim) to the interpretation and meanings of the Almighty's verses. The aim of this department is for those with ijazah in the narration of (Hafs an Asim) to become proficient in the interpretation and meanings of the verses and surahs of the Holy Quran by studying the Tafsir of the Holy Quran, from the beginning of Surah Al-Fatiha to the end of Surah An-Nas, through available resources by a teacher with a scientific and academic degree specialized in the field of Quranic Tafsir and obtaining a certificate therein.
Hadith Department: This department focuses on introducing teachers and students of the Iqraa Organization to the sciences of Hadith and the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The objectives of this department are for teachers and students to become familiar with the sciences of Hadith according to their level and age, by studying the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), studying the sciences of Hadith, and studying and memorizing the book Al-Arba'in An-Nawawiyyah and obtaining a sanad therein, as well as studying and memorizing booklets on educating generations with the Hadiths of our Prophet and obtaining certificates therein.
Administrative and Financial Department: This department focuses on organizing the administrative affairs of the organization and providing a budget for the organization's activities in general, and providing awards for successful students through receiving monthly student contributions and donations from philanthropists.
Relations Department: This department focuses on establishing and strengthening relations within and outside the organization.
Media Department: This department focuses on presenting the organization's work and activities in general, and printing and disseminating activities in audio, visual, and written forms, as it plays a key role in managing the events and ceremonies undertaken by Iqraa.
Student Affairs Department: This department focuses on activating the relationship between students and teachers, utilizing student capabilities in various fields, and connecting student families with the organization to provide more service and develop students in the best way.
Melodious Recitation Department (Voice Department): This department works on activating the hidden talents of Quran reciters, callers to prayer (muezzins), and learners, to learn the melodies of the Holy Quran and the call to prayer. The objectives of this department are for the learner to become familiar with the melodies of reciting the Holy Quran and the call to prayer, and for the learner to be prepared to beautifully and successfully recite the Quran in prayer leading (Imamah) and at events. Also, for the learner to be educated with a beautiful and fitting education worthy of the Holy Quran.
Currently, the Iqraa Organization has 16 branches, 27 centers, and hundreds of dedicated and sincere volunteer teachers who are continuously engaged in serving the Quran and the people of the Quran.
